As a Debt Collector, you will:
Have 1+ years of collections experience and be comfortable with manual systems (we do not use an auto dialer).
Input data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Possess excellent attention to detail skills and accept constructive criticism with ease.
Preserve the credit union’s assets by collecting on delinquent accounts in all stages.
Make up to 500 outbound calls weekly on all loan types such as secured loans, unsecured loans, and credit cards.
Identify first payment defaults on unsecured loans and the issues preventing the remittance of timely payments and/or other payment issues.
Share responsibility for collecting on secured debt and assisting other staff with processing repossessed collateral; and
Maintain a positive attitude, be team oriented, able to accept constructive criticism, and treat each and every member with the compassion and respect they deserve.
We are looking for someone who has:
Graduated high school or equivalent.
Stable work history - we like to see candidates that have been in roles for 2+ years or more.
Relevant Collections experience of 1+ years.
Have strong Microsoft Excel skills.
The ability to thrive in a very fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Previous call center or teller experience.
Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Ability to persuade others to take a specific outcome.
Sound decision-making skills and intuitive natured to think on your feet.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 products, with strong knowledge of Excel.
Experience with working in multiple systems at one time - comfortable navigating various platforms and computer equipment.
Has flexibility to work shifts during the week between 8-6 with occasional Saturdays.
