Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
The City of Killeen Spring Youth Employment session is an 8-week program that provides hands on work experience, financial and workplace readiness training to benefit young people between the ages of 16 to 19.
Youth participants are strategically placed in positions within the City of Killeen departments.
Placement will be based on a collection of criteria and job availability.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties
KYEP Staff will determine the suitability of the job for each participant based on the following criteria:

Transportation Availability
Position Availability
Skill Level

Primary job functions will be in an office setting regarding clerical and administrative tasks.
The related task will consist of answering phones, providing customer assistance, file maintenance, data processing and entry.
All job assignments will align with the State of Texas Chapter 51, Texas labor Code & FSLA regulation regarding youth employment.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Required minimum qualifications
Must be between the ages of 16 and 19 years of age.
Must be a resident of the City of Killeen, Harker Heights, or Fort Cavazos.
Be willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures.
Complete the interview, screening, and onboarding process.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ability to commit the entire program and orientation schedule.
The ability to learn of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations affecting assigned city division.
The ability to learn to use MS Office programs especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The ability to learn how to operate the listed tools and equipment.
The ability to learn how to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with employees, consultants, and the public.
The ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
The ability to collaborative and a team player.
The youth must work to implement the vision and goal set up for the Killeen Youth empowerment Program and the assigned department.
The ability to acquire and maintain effective time management.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must provide Proof of Residence.
Must provide birth certificate or Passport.
Must provide social security card.
Must be enrolled in a GED or alternative high school diploma education program.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Phone switchboard, computer, copy machine, printer-scanner, fax machine, two-way radio, 10-key calculator, and typewriter.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands will align with the state of Texas Chapter 51, Texas labor Code regarding occupations for 14 through 17-year-old youth.
