*Teacher Job Description *
*Job Summary *
Overseas and coordinates the children’s as personal care, hygiene, learning activities, specialized programs and positive guidance.
Maintains classroom records and developmental checklist.
Ensures that classrooms and other play areas are consistently clean and safe.
Informs parents of their children’s progress daily.
Supervises and directs activities in the classroom.
Keeps director informed on a timely basis of pertinent issues regarding staff, children, families, and the program overall.
*Primary Duties and Responsibilities *
*Education and Curriculum *
* Supports curriculum activities and lesson plans that promote children’s his social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
* Implements schedule for the classroom, outdoor time, meals, snacks, and special activities.
Also incorporates small group activities into daily schedule.
* Uses positive guidance techniques consistent with state regulations and early learning guidelines when social, academic, or other problems arise in the classroom.
* Keeps accurate and current records of each child’s developmental milestones, classroom incidents, anecdotal records, child assessments and attendance.
* Supports classroom arrangement, decor, and learning environment in the classroom.
* Provide communication to parents through classroom posts, right wheel, personal notes home.
* Ensure that daily list of activities is posted for parents to view and posted on the classroom app.
* Maintain classroom bulletin boards and make sure the classroom is set up for educational benefit.
* Has strong working knowledge of the Texas minimum standards as well as to center operations and the
Texas early learning guidelines.
*Interactions with Parents, Staff, Children and Director *
* Meets with prospective families as they tour and communicate appropriately with potential to new customers.
* Observes, records, and reports to director any significant behavior of children or staff that could adversely affect the quality of care provided.
* Actively participates in center events, staff training sessions, meetings, and programs.
Immediately notifies director of needed repairs to the building, play area, equipment or toys throughout the facility.
* Insures that children are not exposed to equipment or situations that could affect their health or safety.
* Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled staff are not available, such as subbing in classroom or adjusting your daily schedule.
*Health and Safety*
* Implements appropriate emergency procedures in the event of a fire, tornado, chemical leak, or any other emergency.
* Administers first aid in the event of serious student accidents or emergencies and reports straight to the office.
* Properly maintains educational materials and equipment, ensures that children are using equipment inappropriate manner.
* Keeps classroom and other play areas safe, neat, and clean.
* Maintains classroom ratios at all times.
* Keeps cell phone and other personal items away while working with young children.
*Reporting Relationships *
The Teacher reports directly to the director, he or she also takes directions from other center management personnel.
*Qualifications *
The candidate must meet or exceed state licensing requirements for age, education, and experience.
Previous work experience is preferred.
Must be able to repeatedly bend, stoop and run; Must repeatedly lift and carry children.
Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with children and parents.
The candidate must maintain at least 24 hours of training each year.
