JOB SUMMARY: The Wellness Tech assists the therapists and assistants with patient related activities and direct patient care.
The Wellness Tech provides individual and group therapeutic activities that support wellness to maintain or improve function.
The Wellness Tech may carry out restorative treatments under the supervision of therapy or nursing and may support resident participation in activities of choice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist the therapist and assistant in patient related duties
Participate in department meetings and in community meetings as assigned
Perform clerical documentation work as directed, including computerized activities
Answer and direct phone calls
Assist with restorative care and resident groups as directed
Assist with treatment as directed
Coordinate work activities with members of other departments and other staff within the rehabilitation department
Demonstrate a positive attitude and team building approach with all patients, clients,team members
Provide general support to visitors
Transport patients as scheduled to and from treatment areas
Prepare patients for treatment
Assist patients, clients, team members with particular issues or needs
Participate in facility performance improvement programs
Report any unusual incidents to DOR
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the treatment areas and department
Assist with maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and equipment
Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident
safety
Perform other duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
Ability to be flexible and positive with intermittent interruptions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to move (walk, stoop, bend, stand, sit push, pull, lift) intermittently
throughout the workday
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients/residents, personnel, and support agencies
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility
Must be able to lift patients/residents, medical equipment, supplies, etc.
to 50 lbs.
WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned, including some weekends, evenings and holidays
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clinical
