Assistant Band Director
Junior High
2024 - 2025 School Year
Help direct and manage the overall program of instrumental music for the district.
Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements.
Help plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Candidates will assist with the high school marching band, high school concert ensembles, lead a junior high UIL-performing band, and instruct beginner instrument-specific classes, plus assigned duties.
All bands are team taught.
Job Requirements Education/Certification/License:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Meet Highly Qualified Standards
Demonstrated competency in music
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing band
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Color guard, drum corps, or jazz band experience preferred
At least one year student teaching or approved internship program
Citizenship, residency, or work visa in the United States required
