Sanford Federal is looking for qualified Medical Technologists/Clinical Laboratory Scientists (MT/CLS) and Medical Laboratory Technicians/Clinical Laboratory Technicians (MLT/CLT).
These positions involve providing diagnostic testing services at The Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Temple, Texas.

A.
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of professional Medical Technology/Clinical
Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Technician principles, practices, concepts, and
theories providing for sound independent work.
B.
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory quality control, quality assurance
procedures, and principles of performance improvement providing for sound
independent work.
*Responsibilities*
A.
Is expected to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory
results
B.
Will perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory
procedures and results.
C.
Requires a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal
technical supervision.
D.
Will be required to monitor quality control systems and measures.
E.
Requires the ability to interpret and apply complex written instructions.
F.
Must utilize basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and be able to maintain,
troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation
G.
May need to resolve problems encountered in the laboratory.
Must be able to
communicate, consult, and interact with other members of the healthcare team,
external relations, customer service, and patient education
*Duties include but are not limited to:*
A.
Will perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex
laboratory procedures.
Must be able to recognize deviation from expected results and
use scientific principles to analyze and correct problems.
B.
Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological
specimens for analysis accounting for physiologic processes and requirements.
C.
Maintain and document the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment.
Use,
calibrate, and identify malfunctions; repair and perform preventive maintenance of
laboratory equipment.
D.
Troubleshoot issues with laboratory instruments and resolve problems.
Diagnose
deviations in test performance due to instrument malfunction.
E.
Perform and document quality control and quality assurance activities and corrective
actions related to test performance using statistical principles and theories of
performance improvement.
F.
Identify discrepancies, solve problems, and present solutions.
G.
Answer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity, test sensitivity,
and specific factors which influence test results.
Interpret results and suggest follow‐up
test selection or procedures.
Must meet all acceptable quality and productivity standards as defined by Chief, P&LMS or
designee.

A.

Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT/CLT):
i.
Technician must have a 2‐year Associates in Applied Science Degree
ii.
Technologist must have Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory
Technician certification from a nationally recognized accrediting agency (ASCP,
NCA
iii.
Technician must have a minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience
.
