Job Description:
Software engineers focus on applying the principles of engineering to software development.
Their role includes analyzing and modifying existing software as well as designing, constructing, and testing end-user applications that meet user needs — all through software programming languages.
Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems, including, but not limited to application software, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.
Participates in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.
Successful candidate will present a willingness to learn, work on legacy software and be able to work independently.
System integration consists of upgrades, testing and configuration of network components on the Emulation Test Bed such as traffic stimulation (i.
e.
, TGEN).
• Support system testing by performing various tasks such as test-scenario development, network traffic stimulation (e.
g.
, TGEN), system configurations, test-run execution and monitoring, network-data capture, data storage, and post-test database generation.
• Data analysis entails analyzing the network data collected from the test runs and producing data products for management review.
This includes 1) developing relevant performance metrics (e.
g.
, throughput, latency, packet completion rate, etc.
); 2) producing network topology graphs and correlating its impact on network connectivity during the test run; and 3) identifying anomalous network behavior and providing explanations and/or directions on how to resolve the issue.
• Develop and implement a test plan to validate major rewrite of a backend processor in C++.
• Design and develop new GUI screen to display network performance statistics.
• Update the TRANCE backend PCAP parser to recognize packets from various VLAN locations.
• Develop automated and customized set of SQL queries to analyze network statistics.
• Troubleshoot external network issues as they arise.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or related field; work experience may substitute.
Three years of related experience
Experience with:
Windows Development
JAVA, ADA, or C++ Software Languages
Advanced Degree is desirable
Understanding and experience in the complete life-cycle of software
Certificate/Encryption Knowledge
Experience with AGILE development and Atlassian Tools would be a plus
Eagerness and willingness to learn new technologies
