Project Manager
The JBar Project Manager is the lead for operational planning and execution of large projects which impact JBar as a whole.
In general, these projects are typically larger than $100,000 or are of such a nature as to impact the entire enterprise of JBar.
The typical flow of a project is: Sales/Business Development identifies an opportunity and receives a request for quote.
Depending on the nature of the project, the Sales Manager may engage the Project Manager to assist in the identification of requirements and resources needed for proper execution.
The Sales Manager has responsibility for the preparation and issuance of the proposal.
Upon contract award, the Project Manager will begin all operational/execution planning.
This will include identification of all needed resources, logistics, schedule, cost requirements/constraints and quality metrics.
The Project Manager will coordinate with the Resource Managers (Department Heads) for resources and technical assistance when necessary.
During project execution, the project manager will lead the team in project execution, leveraging the department heads for the execution within their areas of responsibility.
Upon project completion, the Project Manager will conduct an After-Action review to collect lessons learned and identify areas for improvement and areas that went well.
The Lessons Learned documents will reside in the Lessons Learned library, maintained by the Project Manager.
Definitions: Resource Managers – Leadership personnel with operational control of employees within their assigned organizations.
May also include equipment/material assets.
Stakeholders – People or organizations that have a vested interest in the successful completion of the project.
This may include J Bar Executive staff, Department Heads, customers, vendors, outside agencies.

Project Planning a.
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.

Develop a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, milestones and resource requirements.
c Create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to outline tasks and their dependencies.

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans.
e.
Identify and procure the necessary project management tools to enhance J Bar’s project management capability 2.
Team Management a.
Assemble project teams with the required skills and expertise.
Assignment to the project teams should be through the resource managers.
b.
Assign tasks to team members and ensure a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities.
c.
Provide guidance, direction, and support to team members throughout the project lifecycle.
d.
Foster effective communications and collaboration among team members.

Resource Allocation a.
Allocate resources, including human resources, material, tools and equipment to meet project requirements.
b.
Optimize resource utilization to ensure efficient project execution.
4.
Budget Management (Project dependent) a.
Develop and manage the project budget, tracking expenses and ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
b.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage expenses to stay within budget.
5.
Risk Management a.
Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate or address them.
b.
Monitor and assess risks throughout the project, adjusting strategies as needed.
c.
Prepare contingency plans to manage unexpected challenges.
6.
Communication a.
Establish effective communication channels with stakeholders, clients, team members.
b.
Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and potential issues to team members and J Bar leadership.
c.
Address concerns and queries from stakeholders promptly 7.
Quality Assurance a.
Set quality standards for project deliverables and ensure they are met.
b.
Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to maintain high standards.
c.
Implement quality improvement processes based on feedback and lessons learned.

Scope Management a.
Monitor project scope to ensure it remains aligned with the original objectives.
b.
Manage scope change, assess their impact on the project, and obtain necessary approvals.

Project Execution a.
Coordinate and oversee the execution of project tasks according to the project plan.
b.
Monitor progress and take corrective actions if the project deviates from the plan.
c.
Ensure tasks are completed on time and within quality standards.
10.
Documentation and Reporting a.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and meeting minutes.
b.
Prepare regular status reports for management and stakeholders.
11.
Closure and Evaluation a.
Ensure a smooth project closure by finalizing all deliverables and obtaining client acceptance.
b.
Conduct a project retrospective to review successes, challenges and lessons learned.
c.
Document and share insights to improve future project management practices.
Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of direct project management experience.
Experience in lieu of education may be considered on a 1 for 1 conversion.
Ex.
4 years direct project management = Bachelor’s degree plus the required additional years of project management experience; or, Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience.
CAPM or PMP certification is highly encouraged.
Up to 10% travel.
