This position develops the overall strategy for a product category and research new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve targets thru category analysis and recommendations while promoting McLane merchandising initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Effectively lead a team focused on category insights and consumer trends
Guide the team thru analytical efforts \to shape category development and support category focus while ensuring relevant trends are driven into appropriate project agendas.
Provides category insights and proposals by analyzing marketing and consumer data.
Manage and report all aspects of category performance.
Analyze, develop, implement, and monitor seasonal strategies.
Create strategic methods and processes to develop, publish and present category information and recommendations.
Manage and support overall company and departmental initiatives and strategies.
Expand and manage relationships with suppliers in all categories
Direct category analysts to Identify and track consumer trends thru a data-driven discipline approach
Collaborate with suppliers and merchandising team to measure and understand effectiveness of sales initiatives and planogram changes.
Create analyses and logical arguments grounded in quantitative measures to support item and category recommendations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must:
Have a BS or BA degree in Business or related major.
Have knowledge of McLane merchandising systems, online or demand reports.
Have experience with PC data base and word processing programs.
Have previous procurement knowledge and experience.
Possess complete P&L understanding and comprehension.
Have retail experience and/or understanding.
Have strong leadership/coaching skills.
Be a self-starter and able to manage a variety of projects
Be organized and possess the ability to create and adhere to action plans timelines
Be a team player in a dynamic and fast-moving environment and able to drive impact across key stakeholder groups (customers and suppliers) Possess excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, organizational skills.
Possess PC Skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
